The Election Commission has given its approval to the Primary Education Department to start the recruitment process for the posts of basic teachers lying vacant for a long time in the state. The department had sought permission from the Commission to start the process amid the model code of conduct in force in the state.

- Around 3600 basic teacher posts are lying vacant in the state.

- The recruitment of basic teachers in the state will be done as per the provisions laid down in the Uttarakhand Rajya Praudhik Shiksha (Adhyapak) (Sanshodhan) Sewa Niyamavali-2024.
- Under the new provisions, only D.El.Ed and D.Ed qualified candidates will be eligible for the basic teacher post.

Official Announcement for the 3600 primary teacher vacancies in Uttarakhand (as of May 28, 2024) might not be available yet. The age limit for these positions isn’t mentioned in the recent updates on the Uttarakhand Department of School Education website either.
However, there has been a recent change in the age limit for teacher recruitment in Uttarakhand.
The maximum age limit for teachers has been increased from 35 years to 42 years.
This change is still under process and the revised rules haven’t been officially
